Devido aos vários pedidos, nós estamos postando um vocabulário referente à área do Direito. Ele serve tanto para estudantes de direito quanto para pessoas que precisam traduzir textos com termos jurídicos. Toda semana, postaremos termos similares referentes a outras áreas do conhecimento. Insurance = when you pay a company money and they pay the costs if you are ill, have a car accident, etc. = seguro.
Premium = an amount of money that you pay for insurance. = prêmio de seguro.
Fraud = when someone deceives people to get money. = fraude.
To file (a claim) = make an official statement that you are going to do something, especially in a court. = arquivar.
To sue (someone) = start a legal process to get money from someone who has harmed you in some way. = processar.
To guarantee = promise that something will happen or be done. = garantir.
An appeal = when someone asks a higher court to change the decision of a lower court. = apelação.
Arson = the crime of deliberately making something burn, especially a building. = incêndio criminoso.
To convict (someone of) = officially decide in a court of law that someone is guilty of a crime. = condenar alguém.
To sentence (someone to) = give a legal punishment to someone who is guilty of a crime. = sentenciar.
