Television on Sunday in Brazil is always boring.

You have been working during the whole week, you go out on Saturday night and in the following day, and you wake up at about midday. Ok, you turn your TV set on and… shit. Yes, there is nothing interesting on TV.

Have you noticed that Sundays in Brazil are the same boring thing? Yes, you never feel happy about the programs. They are always the same thing, even if you have the remote control in your hands I feel powerless because every little click you have, I mean, every time you press the bottom to change the channel you have the impression that you still are watching the same channel.

Some might disagree with me. Ok, no problem, but I cannot see anything especial to do in days like that. Sunday is the day when you try to relax, visit some friends, sleep, and sometimes have a party. But when it comes to television…

Maybe I wrong. Maybe the problem is not about the TV; maybe it is about the day. Yeah! Sundays are normally (normally?) the day before Monday. Yes, maybe your body feels like lazy or something… well it’s Sunday I don’t have anything really good to write or say. Maybe it’s because it is me! Yes, maybe I’m boring.

No, I don’t think I’m boring! Everyone says that, so I think they are wrong. If they were right I would have to change myself… and you know what? I don’t want to change myself. Not today. It is Sunday, so tomorrow is about to come. Tomorrow I’ll change myself! Sunday bloody Sunday.

Sabe aquelas músicas que marcam nossas vidas? Pois bem. Não sou diferente de ninguém e tenho as minhas também. Existe uma canção de uma banda inglesa chamada OASIS que me traz diversas recordações da minha adolescência.

Quando ouvi essa música pela primeira vez, fiquei louco para aprender a tocar igual a eles. Na verdade, quando ouvi essa música pela primeira vez, fiquei louco para ter uma banda de Rock ‘n’ Roll.

A música em questão é “don’t look back in anger”. Na verdade, essa banda era simplesmente sensacional. Segue agora o link da mesma para que todos possam curtir um rock de qualidade. Daqueles tempos que não voltam mais.

Dexter (TV series)

Dexter is an American television drama series that centers on Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall), a bloodstain pattern analyst for the Miami Metro Police Department who moonlights as a serial killer.

The show debuted on October 1, 2006, on Showtime and the fifth season ended on December 12, 2010. As of December 2, 2010, the show has been renewed for a sixth season. Set in Miami, the show's first season was largely based on the novel Darkly Dreaming Dexter by Jeff Lindsay, the first of his series of Dexter novels. However, his attachment to his foster (and ultimately adoptive) sister, Debra, his girlfriend (later wife), Rita, his stepchildren, Astor and Cody, and later his biological son, Harrison, have all complicated his double life and made him question his need to kill. In fact, in the first season, newly-found memories of his mother's murder set in motion the slow but steady humanization of Dexter, progressing further with each season, as Dexter begins to experience a variety of emotions for the first time in years.

A capacidade de se comunicar oralmente na língua alvo não é um objetivo de ensino, mas sim a leitura, que é justamente a habilidade a ser desenvolvida além da escrita.

A língua estrangeira não é usada em sala senão como material de tradução, que é uma meta importante para o aluno, sendo inclusive, questão principal na avaliação. 

Deve-se estar ciente das regras gramaticais da língua alvo, memorizar vocabulário, conjugações verbais e outros itens gramaticais. A maior parte da interação na sala de aula é do professor com os alunos. Há pouca iniciativa partida do aluno e raramente ocorre interação aluno – aluno.

 O método direto tem esse nome devido à forma de abordar a língua alvo diretamente sem tradução para a língua nativa. As aulas são totalmente ministradas na língua alvo desde o início, através de situações baseadas na vida real.

O conteúdo é introduzido pelo professor através de objetos também reais ou de figuras, fotos, gestos, para que o aluno associe o significado da língua estrangeira diretamente, sem tradução para a língua nativa.

A iniciativa da conversação parte tanto do professor quanto dos alunos, que também conversam entre si. A gramática nunca é apresentada explicitamente, mas deve ser intuída pelos alunos.

MÉTODOS DE ENSINO DE LÍNGUA INGLESA (AUDIO LINGUAL METHOD)

Ele surgiu a partir das idéias geradas pela psicologia behaviorista. Os alunos devem aprendê-la automaticamente sem parar para pensar, formando novos hábitos na língua alvo e superando os antigos hábitos de sua língua nativa.

 O conteúdo é sempre bastante estrutural, sendo apresentado em diálogos iniciais. Esses diálogos são aprendidos com memorização, imitação e repetição. A partir deles, são conduzidos exercícios para fixação dos conteúdos e vocabulário. As repostas certas dos alunos são reforçadas positivamente com prêmios ou elogios. Gramática explícita.

            Há muita ênfase no sentimento dos alunos e na necessidade de ativação de suas potencialidades cerebrais. Para isso o ambiente de estudo deve ser relaxante e confortável, e o aluno precisa confiar no professor para que ele possa ativar sua imaginação e ajudá-lo na aprendizagem. It is known that teaching is not only a question of teaching rules, graphics, how to use maps and the likes. Moreover, it is much more than simply standing in front of the classroom and faces an audience hungry for knowledge.

Some teachers, with experience or not, seem to have an ability to think on their feet, which allows them to believe that they do not need to plan their lessons. However, most teachers go on preparing lessons throughout their careers, even if the plans are very informal. It is said that teaching needs preparation. It is, teachers must prepare and guide students into the path of success. In addition, authentic teachers need to observe and deal with an amount of details.

Firstly, teachers have to adapt the lessons to their students’ realities; in language classes, it is not different from any other kind of classes, students expect their teachers to be creative and plan their lessons.

One thing that teachers should consider is that students will realize if the lessons were not planned before and it can show the image that the teacher does not care about his/her job. Unfortunately, it happens more frequently than we think.

There is no doubt the lesson plans are important in teaching. When planning, we, teachers, should observe students’ needs and possible problems that may happen; and think about the tools we are going to use in advance. In addition, teachers are supposed to arrive earlier in the classroom in order to check if the equipment and the likes are really available that day.

            Um dos enfoques desta abordagem é a aprendizagem prazerosa da língua. Espera-se que o estudante realmente goze do prazer de aprender. Para isso usam-se muitas atividades divertidas e engraçadas e, o movimento corporal é um grande recurso para ajudar na compreensão. Muitas estruturas são aprendidas e praticadas através de comandos. Quando os alunos já repetiram uma série de comandos, eles então passam a demonstrá-los ao resto da turma. Após terem domínio de uma série deles, os alunos aprendem a lê-los e escrevê-los e, somente após certa exposição às novas estruturas, começa-se a falar e ditar outros comandos.
