Do you understand the meaning of ‘civility’?

From the internet.

1.    Courteous behavior; politeness.
2.    Politeness or courtesy, esp. when formal.
3.    The act of showing regard for others

Nowadays it seems that people have completely forgotten the greetings: “I hope you have a nice day” or “how’s everything?” (and the like) are very rare sentences (greetings if you like) in my mother tongue. No…er.…relax. I’m not saying that they don’t exist – because they do exist. What I mean is that (some) people do not use them so often these days. We are living  a kind of a “liquid Life” (Bauman was bloody right) where almost everyone forgets to greet people. Moreover, it seems that nobody cares about the others anymore.

Ironically, the only place you still find people greeting others politely is on the internet. The only problem is that it (sometimes) looks like a fake attitude. “how’s everything?”, I’m almost certain that it rather sounds like gossiping, if it does make any sense.

This whole topic was nothing but an attempt to remind you folks of something: Pay Attention. Notice how often you hear, and hopefully say, words of civility – they do not hurt.

Cheers,

Bruno Coriolano.
